The Select Taste difference is our people. We are a group of highly qualified, dedicated individuals who bring expertise from our various backgrounds – our chefs are formally trained and have years of experience in the food industry and will provide you with delicious food…that goes without saying. But we also come from the corporate sector which allows us to understand the unique requirements of our corporate clients catering needs. We have a loyal clientele and many have dealt with us for a number of years because they know they can count on us to deliver. They know there will be no unpleasant surprises when they are entertaining corporate clients or high level executives visiting for the day.
We are also very aware of special diets and will accommodate your requirements for Vegetarian, Vegan, Allergen-Free and Gluten-Free meals. That is one of the things that makes us different, a philosophy that started with our founder, Slava DeSanti whose training is in Nutrition and food sensitivites. We feel an obligation to our customers and their staff to ensure that they receive good, nutritious food and that their unique dietary requirements are addressed. We use no preservatives in our meals and do not deep-fry in oil.
History
Select Taste Catering Company began operations in 1994 in a small rented space in the Park Royal Shopping Center. In the beginning, the founder, Slava DeSanti did all the cooking, purchasing, delivery, sales, cleaning, etc. The business flourished and within in a year’s time she was able to hire kitchen help and delivery drivers. As the business continued to grow, Select Taste moved to a much bigger facility in the same plaza in 1997. With more space, more customers could be accommodated..
In 1999, Select Taste added a walk-in cooler, additional storage space, and an office for its sales reps. The catering menu was expanded, its automated accounting was enhanced and a website was launched. With its increased capacity, it was now capable of handling big functions for 2,000 - 3,000 guests like the grand opening of Costco Mississauga.
Today Select Taste has a complete kitchen facility with all the necessary freezing, cooling, cooking, baking, storing and cleaning space. It uses current technology to stay well connected with its customers to provide them with quick turnaround service.
In November 2009, Slava sold Select Taste to Randy Munnings, the former President of ISECO Safety Shoes, Canada’s largest distributor of safety footwear. Randy orchestrated the sale of ISECO to Kodiak Group Holdings in 2007 and continued for a two year transition period as the General Manager & VP of Work Authority (formerly ISECO) div of Kodiak Group Holdings. Randy is excited about his new career in the food industry. He previously managed a $30M + business and understands the catering requirements of the corporate sector. Randy has an Honours Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently enrolled in a Catering Diploma program at George Brown College.
